This article is the third in a series discussing retrenchment of employees due to the operational requirements of their employer.

The article discusses s 189A of the LRA which makes provision for mass retrenchments, facilitation of the retrenchment by the CCMA, a notice of termination by the employer in certain circumstances, the use of strikes in a retrenchment process, and then discusses the retrenchment agreement
